This device with receiving sensor on the cable (1.5 meter). The version is according to schematic with improved receiving sensitivity.

On internet is possible to find miscellaneous construction of remote control of computer. Many of them is solved with using of micro-controller (PIC, Atmel), which decode received code from IR-control and transmit it to the computer. Disadvantage of this design is small flexibility when problem happens with atypical remote control code (codes transmitted from IR-controls is not standardized: every manufacturer have its own - although there exists quasi-standards like as RC5, RECS-80, NEC). And this "exotic" remote controls are worldwide. At that time there is need for software update in micro-controller, what is difficult for "common" user (necessity of knowledge of programming micro-controllers and technical devices - programmers). Other disadvantage is higher price of hardware too.

Is a low-priced infrared receiver for controlling the PC with a standard remote control.
It connect to a series interface (COM1, COM2....) .
No requires additional power supply.
Free or shareware programs under MSDOS, Windows 95, 98, NT4, 2000, XP operating systems can be controlled with an I.R. remote control.
